Rod Borghese works in Oil and watercolour, painting landscapes and urban scenes in and around Ottawa and along the Rideau River. He draws inspiration from the changing colours of the season and intensity of light that occurs throughout the day. He often spends the day paddling the river in his kayak creating quick watercolours that are later painted as "oil sketches" at night. Rod has been painting since a young age, spending his summers along the shores of Lake Superior and painting with Northern Ontario watercolour artist Julius Nagainis. Rod's works have been displayed at the Art Gallery of Algoma, the Georgetown School of Art, The National Gallery of Canada, and the Cube Gallery in Ottawa. Rod studied architecture at Carleton University during the 90's and spent several summers on an Archaeological dig in Southern France - Lugdunum Convenarum. (St Bertrand de Comminges) creating watercolours depicting the original Roman Theatre, Forum, and Baths that existed in the 1st Century BC and AD. These works were used in the creation of a new Archaeolgical museum at Lugdunum. In the late 90's Rod worked with Canadian Architect Douglas Cardinal on the design of the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington DC, providing several watercolour renderings that were used in both the design and fund raising by the Smithsonian for the Construction of the Museum.
